Like a residential advisor, college access counselor, or Scholars coach, the Team Lead plays a pivotal role in nurturing student development, tracking progress, and providing tailored guidance on academic, scholarship, and career pathways.<\/p>\n<p>This position combines peer leadership, mentorship, and administrative coordination\u2014ideal for passionate, bilingual professionals or university students who want to give back by shaping the future of Africa\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build strong relationships with a small team of high school students.<\/li>\n<li>Provide step-by-step support for college applications, financial aid, scholarships, and career planning.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a long-term mentor guiding students from high school through early university transition.<\/li>\n<li>Foster motivation, resilience, leadership, and purpose.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Core Responsibilities<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Student Team Coordination<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee a group of 5\u201310 students and conduct regular check-ins (biweekly minimum).<\/li>\n<li>Track academic progress, extracurricular involvement, and overall well-being.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain updated profiles on each student\u2019s goals, challenges, and milestones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>College &#038; Scholarship Advising<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist students in researching and selecting local and international universities.<\/li>\n<li>Guide students through university application platforms (CampusFrance, Common App, UCAS, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Help draft and review personal statements, CVs, and recommendation letter requests.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support for financial aid forms (e.g., FAFSA, CampusFrance social file, scholarship essays).<\/li>\n<li>Identify and disseminate relevant scholarship opportunities and deadlines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mentorship &#038; Long-Term Guidance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide continuous encouragement, goal-setting, and strategic academic planning.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss university majors, global careers, and how to align personal values with long-term paths.<\/li>\n<li>Help students build confidence, study habits, and a growth mindset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Family &#038; Community Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate with families as needed to encourage support at home (in coordination with the Foundation).<\/li>\n<li>Provide culturally relevant explanations of the college process, especially for first-generation students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Resource Development &#038; Referrals<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect students to workshops, webinars, books, and trusted online platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Refer students to psychologists, academic coaches, or advanced support where needed.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to FAE\u2019s internal library of college prep tools and FAQs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Team Collaboration &#038; Reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend regular team lead meetings for coordination and training.<\/li>\n<li>Submit simple monthly reports on student engagement, needs, and wins.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with lecturers, program coordinators, and guest speakers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Candidate Profile<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree or current enrollment in university (any discipline)<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of college admissions, scholarships, and career pathways\u2014especially for African and international contexts<\/li>\n<li>Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with youth, teaching, or mentoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Attributes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Former scholarship recipient or international student (Chevening, Mastercard Foundation, Erasmus+, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communicator and empathetic listener<\/li>\n<li>Organized, reliable, and committed to student success<\/li>\n<li>Passionate about educational equity, youth development, and social impact What You Gain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You Gain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct impact on the academic and personal futures of high-potential students<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience in education advising, leadership development, and college access programming<\/li>\n<li>Training and mentorship from the FAE Foundation leadership team<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of service and personalized reference letters for future opportunities<\/li>\n<li>A long-term relationship with students you\u2019ve guided into universities and careers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Team Lead serves as a frontline advisor, academic coach, and college access guide to a small team of high school students participating in FAE Foundation\u2019s leadership and university prep program.
