FAE Foundation – Volunteer Public Relations (PR) & Communications Manager (Pro Bono)

Position Summary
The PR & Communications Manager is responsible for shaping and amplifying the voice of the FAE Foundation. In line with the level of responsibility seen at top-tier institutions and Charities, this role combines strategic branding, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and community outreach to strengthen FAE Foundation’s reputation and visibility both locally and internationally.

The role is ideal for a dynamic, bilingual communications leader committed to storytelling, youth empowerment, and nonprofit growth.

Key Objectives

  • Build a cohesive and compelling public image of FAE Foundation.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with media, partners, donors, and the public.
  • Develop integrated communications campaigns that support programming, events, and fundraising.
  • Promote transparency, trust, and influence in education and youth development spaces.

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Branding

  • Develop and implement an annual PR and communications strategy aligned with FAE Foundation’s mission.
  • Ensure consistent use of brand assets (logo, tone, visual identity) across all platforms.
  • Craft messaging frameworks tailored for students, donors, volunteers, schools, and the public.
  • Media & Press Relations

    • Cultivate relationships with local and international media outlets (TV, radio, online, print).
    • Draft press releases, media kits, and official statements in both French and English.
    • Organize press briefings, media tours, and coverage of foundation events.
    • Monitor media mentions and shape proactive narrative management.
    • Digital & Social Media Management

      • Oversee FAE’s social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X).
      • Plan and schedule bilingual content: student stories, event highlights, volunteer profiles.
      • Help with social media, newsletter creation, community outreach.
      • Lead creation of multimedia materials (videos, infographics, reels) with content teams.
      • Track engagement, reach, and growth metrics monthly.
      • Events, Campaigns & Stakeholder Engagement

        • Lead communications efforts for FAE-hosted events, public lectures, and workshops.
        • Support donor campaigns through storytelling and appeals.
        • Ensure stakeholder communications (newsletters, reports, donor updates) are timely and effective.
        • Plan and organize workshops, events, and graduation ceremonies.
        • Represent FAE Foundation at public events, conferences, and network functions.
          • Coordinate with program teams to communicate milestones, student success stories, and impact data.
          • Train staff and volunteers on messaging consistency and public speaking.
          • Collaborate with mental health, academic, and administrative teams to develop advocacy campaigns (e.g., mental health awareness, girls’ education, digital literacy).
          • Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

            • Track PR KPIs: media reach, engagement rates, stakeholder feedback.
            • Prepare monthly and quarterly communication impact reports for leadership.
            • Support grant applications with communications impact narratives and visibility plans.
            • Candidate Profile
              Required Qualifications:

              • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
              • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in communications, ideally in education, NGOs, or international development.
              • Bilingual proficiency (C1+) in French and English—written and spoken.
              • Strong writing, editing, and media relations skills.
              • Preferred Attributes:

                • Experience with brand management, nonprofit storytelling, and digital campaigns.
                • Familiarity with communications in African youth development or education contexts.
                • Comfortable leading in a multicultural, multi-stakeholder environment.
